江熱情到了UK究竟是要幹嘛呢?
這對很多人而言到目前為止似乎還是一團謎團，
且讓江某人我本人現場來為各位做實境剖析，
以下是江熱情一點都不神秘的工作x檔案：

Delos Community

TYPE OF PROJECT     

Delos Community is a not-for-profit organisation, which exists for the well being of people with learning difficulties. It is made up of small groups, living in different households, which work together to create a network of mutual support. Varied work, training and study programmes are devised so that each individual can develop educationally and spiritually. 

TYPE OF WORK

Volunteers live and work alongside the disabled service users. Some volunteers share a house with the service users. Volunteer’s tasks are divided amongst assisting service users with recreational activities, providing companionship, sharing skills and assisting service users with domestic duties. The volunteers will also support service users in recreation in the home, and taking part in activities including trips to the pub, to local historical and gallery attractions, swimming, cinema, bowling, and to church.

TYPE OF VOLUNTEER NEEDED   

Flexibility, able to work independently, must be able to relate well with people of different ages and abilities.  The ability to empathise with other people and support vulnerable young adults / adults.

Good spoken English necessary. Male and Female

Age 20 to 30

GENDER/ AGE OF SERVICE USERS      

Male and Female aged 26-80 years old.

LOCATION OF PROJECT

Delos is located in Wellingborough, where the closest train station to the project is.  It is a medium sized town with about 70.000 inhabitants. There are many facilities in Wellingborough, such as a theatre, college, shops, pubs, etc. Trains to London only take 45 minutes.

ACCOMMODATION

The volunteers either live in one of the households with the disabled residents. Bedrooms are sometimes shared.

CATERING/FOOD ALLOWANCE    

If the volunteer lives in the households, some meals are eaten with the residents. Volunteers are given an allowance to buy and prepare their own food.

WORKING HOURS     Volunteers normally work 35-40 hours per week, mainly on weekdays.

TIME OFF/ HOLIDAYS      

20 days off in addition to travelling month in August.

LEISURE TIME/ FACILITIES     There is a cinema and a theatre in Wellingborough as well as shops, pubs and a club. There is also a leisure centre and swimming pool and a library.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Delos Community is an alternative community, which places great emphasis on justice, peace, sharing and equal opportunities. There is great scope for volunteers to get involved in interesting projects but this does require a certain degree of initiative from the volunteer.

All volunteers stay in a hotel for the first week that they arrive before moving into accommodation with service users. During this time, they receive training and induction.

4 other ICYE volunteers should be placed at the project and there is a supportive and community focused environment.
